Number One Seeds?
March 11, 2007
With only a couple of hours until the brackets are released, things are starting to work out in the world of NCAA Division I men’s basketball. Although we will not know for sure who the number one seeds will be until 6pm (EST), there are several teams that have improved their position today.
With a win over Arkansas in the SEC championship game it appears that the University of Florida will secure a number 1 seed, and in turn put themselves in great position for another run at the national title.
The University of North Carolina managed to knock off North Carolina State in the ACC championship. Although they are still on the fence, with one of the toughest schedules in the country it appears that they may also be able to secure a top seed.
As with the entire field of 65, there are no guarantees when it comes to seeding. The University of Memphis has won 30 games, but may find it tough to garner a top seed due to a weaker schedule than some of the other so called “big dogs.”
Just as the bubble teams will have to sit back and wait to hear their name called, the others will also be waiting to see where they will be headed.
This is the start to March Madness, and is what makes it one of the greatest sporting events in the world. Even when teams are snubbed there is no denying that the next month of action is going to be fun for everybody involved!
