Two Rounds Complete…
Were the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament everything you expected them to be? For some people the answer to this question may very well be yes. But for a lot, the lack of upsets made for a boring opening two rounds.
The biggest upset of the tournament to this point has to be the UNLV victory over Wisconsin. The Badgers were thought to have a great chance to win the whole shebang, but UNLV decided to exert their will and take their game to the next level. It will be interesting to see if they can continue at this pace, and quite possibly make a run into the Final Four despite their seven seed.
Our hats must go off to two teams in particular. First and foremost, Xavier almost pulled off the upset of the year when they took number one seed Ohio State to overtime. Although the Mustangs came up a bit short, they showed the entire nation why March Madness is so great.
VCU also deserves a shout out thanks to their first round win over Duke as well as the way that they took Pitt down to the wire. Despite a double digit second half deficit to the Panthers on Saturday night, they continued to fight and eventually took the game into overtime.
With only two rounds complete, the action is just beginning to heat up. All four number one seeds are still around, but have difficult third games in the week to come. Stay tuned!
