Game Review: The Surrealist’s LiveJournal Dungeon Adventure
It’s kind of like an alternate method of browsing your friends’ LJ accounts, only it gets you killed. Eventually. Inevitably. I mean, come on, you only start out with 50 hit points!
I died in the Dungeon of Tnh
I was killed in a derelict torture chamber by the wrath of Sartorias, whilst carrying…
the Wand of Tamiam, the Crown of Hazelchaz, the Amulet of Speed, the Axe of Mplscorwin, the Sceptre of Daystreet, the Axe of Scalzi, the Axe of Alg, the Sceptre of Botany, the Axe of Real Economics, the Armour of Rocks, the Amulet of Fredcritter, the Dagger of Bodging, the Wand of Pameladean, the Crown of Feorag, the Shield of Spikewriter, the Amulet of Kip W, the Sword of Real Economics, the Wand of Carbonel, the Wand of Dhole, the Crown of the Gardener, the Amulet of Hamsters, the Shield of Shunn, a Figurine of Athenais, a Figurine of Redbird, the Crown of Webbob, the Armour of Malkingrey, the Armour of Drplokta, the Crown of Jmhm and 184 gold pieces.

Actually, you can enter any username you want. That’s rather the point.
The Surrealist’s LiveJournal Dungeon Adventure turns your stated interests into scenery and potions. It turns your friends list into a cast of D&D-style monsters and a pantheon of namesakes for weapons, armor, loot, and altars to dubious deities. It makes it possible to find yourself in a gloomy cave where crude images of Australia are daubed on the walls and you may choose to read a scroll marked ‘RAP’, should you happen to explore the Dungeon of Docbrite.
The more friends and interests your account lists, the bigger your dungeon will be. Thus, I expect the Dungeon of Vortexae will be kinda monochrome and small. However, the Dungeon of Tnh (that would be Teresa Nielsen Hayden of Making Light) is huge. Her interests are vast and her friends are legion.

Finally, you either die in the dungeon (which is the point; there are surprisingly few ways to regain hit points) or you escape it, at which point you’re rewarded with an HTML block you can proudly display for all to see. So that’s what I did. Ha!
So what was your score?
