World of Motion (Part 2)

For those who have ever complained of the eminent danger of roller coasters…

Might I offer the praise from a friend of a shell shocked veteran who tells the story of a veteran who hadn’t spoken a word for six years. He accompanied his friend on the Coney Island Cyclone and upon exiting, staggered off into some restroom mumbling to himself, “I feel sick.”
The two fastest roller coasters in America run at about 80 mph and both exceed 250 ft in height. These are the Steel Force in Dorney Park and the Desperado at the Buffalo Hills Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Desperado is said to run at four g’s, which is enough force to transform the average riders hot dog, cotton candy and soda pop content into airborne projectiles.
Just ask any NASA trainee that has experienced the weightless zero g-force feeling onboard the “Weightless Wonder”. Very few trainees finish this course without accident, which has me wondering what I would do if I was stuck floating in a tube with such debree floating around in the area…
Probably add to the mix…
Which is what must give it its second most popular name–”The U.S. Vomit Comit.”
The whole world is moving and developing quicker than it ever has. Our kids are reaching sexual maturity quicker, medical technology is advancing faster than human cognition and the popularity of socialite celebrities is changing faster than high speed Internet gossip sites can even keep up with.
To all this, I say…
“Stop for a brief second… is it you that is passing before the world or the world passing before you?”
