Who’s Hot in Major League Baseball?
May 8, 2007
At this time of the year, MLB teams are trying to get all their ducks in a line. After all, success now will have a lot to do with playoff positioning in the months to come. The teams performing best are the ones who have star players taking over.
Over the last week of baseball, several players stick out for the way that they performed at the plate.
The Milwaukee Brewers may very well be the most surprising team of the season to this point. One of the main reasons that they have achieved so much success is Prince Fielder. During games played in the last seven days Fielder scored 8 runs, had 12 RBI’s, and 4 home runs.
The Philadelphia Phillies Shane Victorino also had a great week at the plate. He batted .478 with 8 runs scored and 7 stolen bases.
Finally, Troy Glaus of the Toronto Blue Jays led his team with a .364 average, 6 runs, and 3 home runs.
While these three guys are not the only players who have put up big numbers over the past week, they are at the top of the list. If their teams are going to continue to achieve success, it is essential that they continue to step up time and time again.
It will be interesting to see who moves to the forefront at the plate in the next week to come. Although it is still early, big performances now can pay off during the race to the playoffs.
