Pistons Move On
May 18, 2007
The Detroit Pistons ended the Chicago Bulls bid to become the first team in NBA history to overcome a 3-0 series deficit in the playoffs. Last night, the Pistons defeated the Bulls 95-85 in Chicago. Despite the fact that the Bulls hung around all game, the Pistons were simply too much.
So how did the Pistons do it after losing the last two games? Simply put, their big guns showed up big time for game 6. Point guard Chauncey Billups controlled the game on both ends of the floor. In 42 minutes he scored 21 points and handed out 7 assists. But more importantly, he did not commit a single turnover.
Richard Hamilton also had a great game. Also playing 42 minutes, Hamilton was the games high scorer with 23 points. He accomplished this on 9-18 shooting from the floor, and 5-5 from the foul line.
Rasheed Wallace and Antonio McDyess controlled the boards all night. Wallace pulled down 13 boards in 39 minutes to go along with 16 points. McDyess added 10 rebounds and 5 points in 25 minutes.
For the Bulls, it is back to the drawing board. Although they had a great season, they did not reach their goals in the end. For next season, the Bulls need to add a bit of depth in the front court to help out Ben Wallace; who is more or less a defensive specialist.
The Pistons await the winner of the Cleveland Cavaliers-New Jersey Nets series in the Eastern Conference Finals.
