Hot Bats in Major League Baseball

June 22, 2007

This time of the Major League Baseball season is when some players begin to compile stat after stat, and others kind of slide into the background. Although we are not even to the halfway mark yet, it already appears that some players in both leagues have hit the wall. Fortunately for them, they will have a bit of a rest at the All-Star break. But with that in mind, some players are on a tear as the midway mark closes in.

Take Mike Lamb of the Houston Astros for example. Over the last seven days he has been on a hot streak; to say the least. This includes a .565 batting average, six runs scored, and 11 runs batted in. There are not too many players in either league that are putting up better numbers at the plate.

Corey Hart of the Milwaukee Brewers has also done his part over the last week. His big week included three home runs, seven runs scored, and seven runs batted in. Hart is one of the main reasons that the Brew Crew is in first place in their division. And if he continues to hit like this, it will only help them to hold onto this lead during the second half of the season.

In the American League, there are not too many hitters that are raking the ball better than Carlos Guillen of the Detroit Tigers. He is batting .455 over the past seven days. Along with this, he has scored nine times, and drove in nine runs. The Tigers are in a tight race in the American League Central, but with Guillen hitting like this, they will be in good shape when the All-Star break arrives.

These hot bats may not last forever, so their teams must take advantage right now!
