You Bored at the Office? Try Chairwars to Spice Things Up

July 18, 2007

As an obvious result to the overuse of cubicles in today, chairwars is a relatively new extreme sport breaking into office buildings around the globe. All you need to participate is a chair with wheels and a gut of iron!

Well; actually any old gut protruding from your belt might just give you a slight advantage here, as your main goal is to knock the other person clean out of their chair.

The competition begins with both opponents seated in chairs at opposite ends of the office. Then with either a running start or the use of a ramp, both people in the chairs are hurled towards one another. The person left seated in their chair is declared the winner.

Bonus points are given at the end for those that looked rather stylish and/or cool during the dismounting of their opponent.

Here are the basic rules:
• Chairs may not exceed 40 inches in height, 21 inches in width
• Must have a minimum of three wheels and a maximum of six
• Gavels, spears, lights, or body armor are strictly prohibited
• Use of hands, arms, legs or feet to prevent the tipping of your chair as an automatic disqualification

They have video coverage on the Internet for these competitions, and you would think that you were witnessing an ultimate fighting match when you look over the wounds of some of these extreme office warriors.

Keep tuned into this breaking sport as news of state wide competitions are on the buzz. Never for the faint of heart, but always for the faint of work!
