Skip Prosser, Dead at 56
July 27, 2007
If you have never heard of Skip Prosser, you should know two things about him. First off, he was a great basketball coach. It was Prosser that was responsible for leading Wake Forest basketball back to the top of the game. But in addition to being a great basketball coach, Prosser was an even better person. The fact of the matter is that he had the perfect blend of basketball coaching skills and people skills; and this is something that is hard to find in today’s day and age.
At the age of 56, Prosser passed away yesterday of a heart attack. After taking a jog on campus, his life came to an abrupt end. But even though he was taken too young, it is safe to say that his name will live on forever. Not just at Wake Forest, but throughout the entire world of basketball.
Prosser had a lot of success at both the high school and college level over the years. And even though this is what a lot of people will remember, it should be said that he shaped thousands of lives during that time as well. And this is what really matters the most.
The game of college basketball will not be the same this year without Skip Prosser. But hopefully everybody will remember him for the great guy that he was; both on and off the court.
