Gwynn and Ripken: MLB Hall of Fame Inductees
Two of the greatest baseball players of all time have been inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame. Throughout their careers, both Tony Gwynn and Cal Ripken showed off their on field talent, while also keeping a good reputation off of it. When it comes down to it, the league needs more players like these two if the game is going to continue to thrive.
Gwynn played 20 years for the San Diego Padres, and many feel that he is one of the top hitters of all time. During his career, Gwynn won eight National League batting titles. To go along with this, he finished with 3,141 hits.
Ripken played his entire career with the Baltimore Orioles. Over the years, his name became synonymous with the franchise, and it still is to a certain extent. Ripken is most well known for the 2,632 consecutive games that he played in. But of course he also racked up some awesome statistics as well. They include: 3,184 hits, 431 home runs, and a 19 time All-Star team selection.
Gwynn and Ripken will always be remembered for the way that they played the game. It is no wonder that more than 75,000 fans showed up in Cooperstown to watch these two get inducted into the Hall of Fame. They are truly two legends of the game!
