Immigration Orange tipped me off on this up and coming social networking site. I’m not into social networking, but this site looks like it has great potential. Check out their manifesto here to get an idea of what it’s all about.
It has been described as “MySpace.com with a conscience.” It ‘s all about uniting people, non-profits, businesses and academics to tackle our planet’s biggest and most pressing social and ecological challenges.
I don’t know about you, but I often feel disconnected, like if I could only meet people with similar concerns, passions and great ideas, I could also find the inspiration that is sometimes lost in the powerlessness of one.
This site will be geared toward people between the ages of 18 and 24. I have been astounded by the apathy I see at protests and on campuses both in the United States as well as in Mexico. Students should be the first people out there fighting for social justice and raising awareness. What will we do if even the student population loses its consciousness to consumerism and the status quo?
This site could combat apathy, powerlessness and isolation- things that often keep us from realizing that we can unite and we can make a difference and it’s not about one, but about many. I’m definitely looking forward to this site.
