NFL Training Camp is Winding Down
August 24, 2007
The month of August is always a busy one for NFL teams. Not because they are in the middle of the season, but because they are getting ready for the upcoming 16 game schedule. And guess what? The preparation during training camp is directly related to how much success a team has during the season.
With NFL training camp winding down, teams are looking at a few things. First and foremost, coaches need to determine which players are going to make the team. While this may sound easy, there are actually many rounds of cuts that need to be made. As a player on the fence, this can be the most nerve racking time of the year.
Of course, this is also when coaches have to get their two deep roster in place. After all, the regular season is only a couple of weeks out. It is time for each team to know who will be playing what position, and where their strengths and weaknesses lie. While there are some teams who may already know this based on last season’s team, there are others that have been overhauled during the off season.
For fans, training camp is not always the most fun of times. Sure, it gives them something to talk about, but they are ready for the games. But on the other side of things, coaches will agree that training camp is where a lot of games are won!
