Band of Horses: Close to Home and our Heart
August 29, 2007
Band of Horses is a true down home Seattle Indie rock band possessed by a smooth and dreamy sound much like a scoop of softened vanilla ice cream on a warm spring afternoon. This past March they released their first full length debut album, ‘Everything all the time’. This is a truly great album worth a listen; savor a few bites at MySpace.

Band of Horses is actually rather new to the music scene; but is no overnight success by any means. They were originally formed by multi instrument talented Matt Brooke and Ben Bridwell after the break-up of their 10 year musical crusade with, ‘Carissa’s Weird’. Band of Horses developed as a reincarnation of the passion Brooke and Bridwell felt towards their music throughout that particular decade of their lives.
In their most recent album, ‘Everything all the time’; Bridwell heads up guitar and vocal, while Brooke sticks with song writing mixed with a few riffs of his guitar. Bridwell is no stranger to song writing however, as ‘Everything all the time’ is every bit just as much his as it is Brooke’s. Surprisingly, Bridwell, formerly the drummer for Carissa’s weird; had never even attempted to write a song until the formation of Band of Horses.
With the announcement of Brooke leaving the band due to his own project taking off; Band of Horses is currently at only three members, Ben Bridwell, Rob Hampton, and Creighton Barret. Their newest album, ‘Cease to Begin’ is set to release in October and promises the same great rock sound with an inherent simplicity that was only touched upon in the last album… I can’t wait!
