Boy Kill Boy: Great Sounds of London

Just when you thought nothing good was coming out of the East London scene, Boy Kill Boy pops in to pay tribute to some of the classic synth rock of the 80’s and does a ‘bang-up’ job of it (and that is meant as a ‘good’ thing)! Guided by the inspirational sounds of The Smiths, Blur, and Sonic Youth; Boy Kill Boy is finally ‘feeling the love’ after numerous crap jobs, crap luck, and crappy band break-ups. The band members of Boy Kill Boy have been through a gamma of sound changes and have finally found their niche. The fact that it happens to also be rather marketable is only but a plus to those past days of empty wallets and all you can eat surf and turf buffets.

Starting from the front of the stage on towards the back you will find Chris Peck on lead vocals, Kev Chase on bass guitar, Pete Carr on Keyboards, and Shaz Mahmood on the drums. Together they create a sound that feels rather familiar and comfortable, much like a friend that you’ve know for years. But along side of that comfort swells a biting edge that sets them aside from the rest of the European rock currently being lapped up and savored on the pallets of its many fans. You can definitely be sure to hear a lot more from these guys over the next year.

I know what you must all be thinking; how in the heck did they come up with such a name as Boy Kill Boy? Well, according to Chris, it was simply the case of too many years in front of those loud speakers and mishearing a fellow mate who was telling him about a new band called Boy called Roy. Chris knows absolutely nothing about this band, what they sing, or even where they come from. But I guess in some form or another this unknown band is getting their 15 minutes of fame; through another band unfortunately, but we can’t all have our cake… or even be invited to our own party sometimes!

They are currently in the United States recording their second album. Keep an eye out for this band as they are going places in the indie scene!
