College Football AP Top 25
September 5, 2007
After losing to Appalachian State, it was quite obvious that Michigan was going to drop quite a few spots in the AP Poll. But it is safe to say that nobody saw them falling from number five before the loss, to all the way out of the top 25. Outside of the Wolverines, the AP top 25 stayed pretty much the same.
Southern California is still ranked number one, but this time around they only received 59 first place votes. This is in comparison to the 62 that they received in the preseason. Second place LSU received five first place votes, with number three West Virginia garnering one nod.
Due to the Michigan loss, Florida moved up to number four and Wisconsin to number five. Oklahoma is in a tie with Wisconsin at number five, and thanks to a lackluster performance against Arkansas State, Texas dropped to number seven.
Florida State dropped out of the top 25 after their loss to Clemson. In turn, Clemson moved to the 25th position. They are joined by Georgia Tech at number 21; a team that was not ranked before their trouncing of Notre Dame.
All in all, there is no denying that the college football AP top 25 poll will change many times over the 2007 season. But after only one week, things have already been shaken up quite a bit.
