College Football: A Look at this Weekend’s Match-ups

September 21, 2007

The college football season is well underway. Going into the fourth weekend of the season, there are plenty of teams on their way up, as well as some headed in the other direction. It is safe to say that there are going to be some big shakeups by the end of the day Saturday.

Perhaps the best match-up of the day will be when Penn State travels to the Big House to take on the Michigan Wolverines. Even though Michigan has started the season 1-2, they are still a solid football team. If the Nittany Lions do not take them seriously, they may leave Ann Arbor with their first loss of the season.

Michigan State is traveling to Notre Dame for a game that is surely to be highly contested. The Spartans are 3-0 while the Irish sits at 0-3. A bit of trivia: the Irish have never started a season losing their first four games. And guess what? They have been playing football since 1887.

Finally, do not forget to keep an eye on South Carolina when they travel to LSU on Saturday afternoon. Both teams are 3-0, and despite the fact that LSU is ranked number two in the country, many feel that they are the clear favorite to win the National Championship.

This is only the tip of the iceberg. There are quite a few top flight games being played this Saturday, and many more that are sure to be just as exciting.
