Marcel Marceau… And another legend passes without a word (pun intended)

September 24, 2007

Dead or Alive has confirmed it. The 84 year old mime died on Saturday in his home country of France.

Marcel will always be remembered for his white and black stripped jersey, painted white face and battered top hat with a limp red rose tucked in the band.

Marcel Marceau has become somewhat a household name in many respects, even though many folks today probably can’t remember when or where they saw him. He was in a number of episodes of the Johnny Carson Show, Jane Fonda’s movie hit, “Barbarella”, and is credited as the actual creator of the Michael Jackson signature dance move, the moonwalk.

But today instead of lamenting the death of such a great talent, let’s celebrate his life with a few of his greatest moments…

Marcel vs. The Romantic Tango
Marcel vs. Mel Brooks
Marcel vs. Michael Jackson

We always hate to say goodbye to an old friend, but Marcel has left behind a legacy that shall continue to flourish in the hands of new performing artists whether they realize it or not!
