Another one of my favorite stories I have been told over the years:

Anne Marie’s Ghost- From the late 1960’s comes a story about a woman named Anne Marie who worked in a law office in Germany. The 19 year old woman had actually just began work at the office as an aid for the lawyer along with three other assistants. It wasn’t but a few days into her job and Marie began to have problems with her phone. It would ring at times and nobody would be there, while other times she would be on the phone and the connection would click and buzz.

Marie Anne soon found out that she was not the only one who was experiencing the weird phone behavior. Sometimes all the phones would ring at the same time and nobody would be on the line for any of them. The lawyer thought very little of the strange phone behavior until he received an incredibly high phone bill later that month. It would seem that one of the assistants was making as many as five long distance calls per minute without anyone noticing. Determined to find the culprit, the lawyer had the calls traced and found they were going to a 0119.

Around this same time, the staff also started to notice other such strange behavior, such as the photocopy machine leaking fluid, the petty cash box bursting open and spreading money across the office, heavy framed pictures spinning 360 degrees around on the wall, and light fixtures spontaneously bursting around the office. Some days seemed worse than others, then the staff started to realize that many of the events seemed to happen around Anne Marie.

When she was not in the office, everything would be quiet and there would not be any strange unexplained events. The three assistants started to watch her closely and this is when they noticed perhaps the strangest phenomenon. Every time Marie Anne would get up from her desk and walk somewhere, the lights above her would begin to swing as she walked by them. This was enough proof for them to report their concerns to the lawyer who responded by requesting to the young woman leave the office and find a new job.

The first few days she was gone they noticed all paranormal activity had left with her. The strangest part was, when the lawyer called to check up on her, all paranormal events had stopped and she was not having any problems in her new office. Perhaps her presence had stirred a resident poltergeist who was already there… Little is known of this phenomenon other than the fact that some people just seem to draw ghosts towards them. A talent of which I am glad I never had!
