The New BCS Standings

There has never been a more wild college football season than 2007. And guess what? The season is only a bit more than halfway over. Every weekend there seems to be several upsets which spring underdogs into the top 10 of the BCS standings. And this past weekend was no exception.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are still number one in the BCS standings thanks to an undefeated record. Following closely behind are the Eagles of Boston College. They also have a zero in the loss column, but have a tough match-up with Virginia Tech this Thursday night.

The rest of the standings are as follows: LSU, Arizona State, Oregon, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Kansas, and South Florida. As you can see, there are several teams in the BCS top 10 that the experts were not even talking about at the beginning of the season.

Even though things are shook up right now, it appears that things will get even crazier in the weeks to come. All of the teams in the top 10 have tough games remaining, and there are several teams, such as USC, just waiting to get back into the picture.

It is safe to say that next week’s BCS standings will not look anything like the above. Even if only one top 10 team loses, there is sure to be a shakeup with all of the other teams fighting to claw their way in.
